The Portland Hospital’s ‘Children’s Doc Around the Clock’ is an urgent private GP appointment service for babies and children up to the age of 16. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Children will be seen at The Portland Hospital by a Consultant Paediatrician between the hours of 9am to 8pm Monday – Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
Outside of these hours parents will have the option of either a home visit or a telephone consultation with a child-friendly GP from Doctorcall. If your child then needs admitting to The Portland Hospital this will be arranged by our covering Consultant Paediatrician at any time of the day or night.

In these instances we would advise parents to visit their local accident and emergency department or in an emergency dial 999.
As this is an urgent appointment service it is self-pay and we collect a consultation fee upfront. In most instances it is possible to claim this on medical insurance and we are able to provide a receipt to support claims. We do advise you to check with your medical insurance provider for further information about what is covered under your policy.
